Meagan Hassan, Partner
At DEMOND & HASSAN, PLLC, Meagan Hassan manages the Mid-Atlantic office, where the firm takes civil rights cases in Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia.
Meagan has successfully resolved many of the firm's matters without the need for trial via a combination of mediation, negotiation, and strategic motion practice. However, when forced to trial, Meagan is successful on behalf of her clients and has obtained one of the largest jury verdicts in the State of Texas (and the largest in the U.S. in a cyber defamation case, $13.78 million). Meagan now primarily focuses, with her partner, on Constitutional and civil rights cases in Texas and along the East Coast.
A graduate of Rutgers University, she continued her post-college education at Georgetown University, where she completed her coursework for a Master's of Arts in Arab Studies. While studying at Temple University's James E. Beasley School of Law, Meagan worked for a solo bankruptcy practitioner and a leading attorney in the field of international trade and customs in the Philadelphia area. After graduation, she back to Washington, D.C., where she worked in international tax compliance and trade for one year before moving to Texas.
Meagan began working with William Demond in Austin in 2008 and then opened the firm's Houston office in August 2011. She opened the Mid-Atlantic office of Demond & Hassan, PLLC in 2014. She has spoken regarding immigration issues to the Malaysian embassy in Washington, D.C., and about privacy issues to groups in Texas.
Meagan has represented clients all over the States of Texas and Maryland and is active in State and Local Bar Associations. She is also proficient in Arabic and French.
